Pastel Portrait Done

Today is day 4 of Summer.  I completed this pastel portrait commission today.  Now on to some oil paintings that have been brewing for a long time....

My new artist statement: 

In my art I am trying to somehow transcend the physical and glimpse the spiritual.  Visual art expresses what words cannot.  Many of my works are meant to be contemplative.  They speak to the gap between spirituality and our human understanding. This is what draws me to my subject matter. I believe art emanates from the Creator.  It's bigger than ourselves.  My art is part of my spiritual journey-- like a prayer you can see. 

Art Camp is Fun!!!!

Today we painted "Royal Self- Portraits".  We looked at art reproductions of royal portraits and then painted ourselves with royal clothes, jewels, and hairstyles.  Yesterday we made Roman mosaics with colored mat board and learned about Greek and Roman architecture by making a pop-up building.  

Tomorrow is our last day :(  

We are going to make small frescoes. 

It has been a great week for me!!!
